Capsule co-founders wearing the Original Trench

The beginning

Franca always had a vision: fewer items of clothing, made better. She had spent years dreaming of her own slow fashion brand, and after designing her first collection, beginning with the Capsule Original Trench, she knew she had something she could build on.

Steve had spent decades inside online brands and had always been preoccupied with sustainability. He wanted to help build something that would last, not something resold on Vinted before the next drop.

Capsule is our answer. A small collection of clothes, designed slowly, made carefully, built to outlive the cycle.

Fewer, better.

The most considered wardrobe is the smallest one.

It is an unpopular position for a clothing brand to take. Most want you to buy more, more often. We would rather you bought less, and bought better.

Each year we release one or two complete Capsules, alongside annual signature pieces such as the Original Trench. Individual pieces are always available, for those who only need to finish a wardrobe rather than rebuild it.

What we make

Every Capsule piece begins with a simple question: would we still wear it in ten years?

The answer shapes everything - fabric, cut, construction, finish. We work with small-run suppliers who still treat tailoring as a craft. We choose materials that age well, not only ones that photograph well.

We obsess over the details no one sees. The lining. The button weight. The way a seam sits after the coat has been worn a hundred times.

Our first piece is the Capsule Original Trench, a reconsidered take on a coat we love.

I have always wanted to start a fashion business. I incorporated the company a year before I met Steve, but I could not find the right co-founder. For a while, I was actively looking through forums, LinkedIn, went to meet-ups, with no success.

On a lunchtime walk with Steve, who was just a co-worker to me back then, he and I realised we were chasing the same idea and shared the same values. The idea of Capsule was born from that conversation.

I had spent years finding it hard to put fresh looks together from a wardrobe I already owned. The easy answer was always to buy something new. But there is too much choice, and most of it is not worth it. Big brands want you to buy more, not invest in pieces that last. Capsule is the alternative.

“Huge on sustainability” is an easy claim to make. Most brands struggle to show the working.

I have a track record. To date, I have personally planted 6,914 trees through Ecologi and the Eden Project, the same charity Capsule will back as a company. The contribution is publicly verifiable at ecologi.com/stevenmills.

Across the businesses I have worked with, that figure climbs past 50,000 trees. Capsule is the chance to go much further, while making clothes that genuinely last.
